In Wonderland
This weekend I checked out In Wonderland: Surrealist Adventures of Women Artist in Mexico and the United States exhibition at LACMA. I had to of course check out the works of Frida Kahlo!!! To be able to look at some of greatest paintings up close and personal was everything I needed to be inspired and moved once again by her. I snapped a few photos, check it out!
And if you're in LA, go to LACMA and check out this exhibition going on until May 6th, 2012.

The Real Frida Kahlo
Here's a video that shows snippets of Frida Kahlo at work, with friends, and with her husband. Frida had this amazing aura about her, and you can see it in this video. Enjoy!

Getting Excited

NOEL JEAN S/S 2011 COLLECTION
INSPIRATION: FRIDA KAHLO
Frida Kahlo, created striking, often shocking, images that reflected her turbulent life. Her oil paintings, mostly self portraits, were deliberately naive, filled with bright colors and flattened forms of the Mexican folk art she loved.
~~~
With this collection, I will be using BRIGHT BOLD COLORS to capture the works of art Frida created. Silhouettes and fabrication will be a mixture of Frida's personal style of drapery, printed fabrics, and some play on androgyny. Her eclectic palette for allure, boldness, and subtle hints of naive innocents will be the essence of this collection.
