FALL ACCESSORIES TO ADD TO YOUR COLLECTION!

Fall is here! A great time of year, where we can explore and be creative with our fashion choices. Shoes, jewelry, handbags, scarfs and other crucial accessories differ each year, so here's a look at what is hot for Fall 2013!

Fifty shades of... GREY! Always on trend, this color is so important this season. Shoes, jewelry and handbags, you need at least one grey accessory to rock. Here's a few pieces to choose from...

It's not Valentine's Day yet, but 'love' is all around, and as we get closer to cold nights and windy days, it's time to start incorporating some of it into our outfits. Whether it's a bold statement necklace or cute heart patterns on a scarf or handbag, this is definitely going to be a big hit this Fall. Big rings are also going to be a hit this year, so pair your statement necklace with a statement ring to jazz up any outfit.

We are all well aware by now that punk is back, so designers have been cleverly incorporating elements of punk into their feminine, more delicate pieces. Here's a perfect example of how dainty pieces like pearls are making their way back into the scene too!

Over the knee is always sexy and sleek, so I couldn't have been more excited to see that it was coming back with a bang! With simplistic colors for casual wear or bold, eccentric patterns, over the knee boots are everywhere so there's no doubt you'll find a pair that suit your needs.

This list wouldn't be complete without some stunning handbags to choose from. Of course we all have our favorite style, designer and colour. Handbags are so personal, something we carry around everyday and look after with love and care. So what should we be looking for this fall? Menswear is another fall accessory trend, with boyfriend style shoes making a huge return and these bags draw inspiration from exactly that! Take a look at some of these structured, bowling-style bags.

These are just a few of my favorites for Fall, but there are loads more including military print accessories, furs and silver jewelry, big bracelets and earrings in particular. Although these pieces are an excellent addition to your wardrobe, accessories are all about adding to your own unique style so make sure to shop around a bit before settling on items that really work for you. A few bold statement pieces and a few more minimalistic options may be best to give you choices. A girl can never have too many options!

DIY Gold Leafing

Gold leafing has been around for quite some time, but if you ever wanted to change things up a bit and add a little flare to your everyday accessories or make up check out some DIY tips on how to achieve this look!

You'll need:
  •  one sheet of imitation gold leaf
  •  spirit gum or non toxic liquid adhesive
  •  a foam brush
  •  tape

Start by cutting the sheet of gold leaf into half inch strips. Use scotch tape to tape off an area of the skin.

The gold leaf will not adhere to anything without an adhesive agent so an application of spirit gum is necessary. Apply a coat of spirit gum. (Spirit gum, which is normally used for affixing wigs and fake mustaches, is a great non-toxic solution and can be found at most speciality stage makeup stores or Ricky’s in New York.) With a foam brush, dap the spirit gum until it becomes tacky.

Pick up a strip of gold leaf and press the gold side onto the tacky area with pressure. Remove the strip and repeat the steps until the whole area is covered.

Remove the tape and use your fingers to smooth out any loose flakes. The gold leaf should stay on for at least 8-10 hours. Spirit gum remover or rubbing alcohol can be used to remove it if necessary.

That's it!!
