NYFW SS13 ROUND UP PT 1

NARCISCO RODRIGUEZ
I always love a good pant suit, and effortlessly chic ensembles. This collection combines flirty feminine slip dresses, constructed jackets and trouser that can be worn with ease. Great for those day-to-night work days :)

RODARTE
What was the inspiration behind this Spring '13 collection? Kate and Laura explain it's a "Medieval and fantasy role-playing games." I wanna play :)

THOM BROWNE
Heavily constructed and patterned shapes, "hypno-wheels and crazy mirrors, male mannequins made up as the 1931 version of Dr. Frankenstein, ballerinas spinning like music-box dancers to Krzysztof Penderecki, whose avant-garde atonality soundtracked classic creep shows The Exorcist and The Shining"... What do you get THOM BROWNE Spring '13! Utter madness, but I respect him for it :)

3.1 PHILIP LIM
"Phillip Lim's explained that he had been exploring "cut-up," a Dada literary technique later popularized by William Burroughs and then appropriated by musicians such as David Bowie and Radiohead." --STYLE.COM

MARC JACOBS
Marc Jacobs channels a modern age Edie Sedgwick in his Spring '13 collection. He created optical illusions mixing stripes and patterns.

ALEXANDER WANG
"After last season's austerity," he explained, "I wanted to pull garments apart, experiment with volumes." --Alexander Wang

HELMUT LANG
Adding a bit more color to there collection this season, you can always look to this label to give you edgy urban cool, with their asymmetric draping, distressed leather combos. They collaborated with tattoo artist Thomas Hooper, who helped them incorporate print in their collection for the second time :)
