For the past month, I have been busy working on Hearst Digital Media's fashion-and-beauty focused "Hello Style" channel that will be featured on YouTube. I had the great pleasure of working as key stylist to Style expert, Marcy Guevara, as she gives plus-size fashion a major makeover in the series inspired by the hit Marie Claire column “Big Girl in a Skinny World”. The show will also feature “Big Girl in a Skinny World” columnist Nicolette Mason. We premiere Monday, April 16th on HELLO STYLE, so get the word out!

Iris Apfel: "I'm not just some empty-headed fashionista"

I hope to be as stylish as Iris when I'm 90! 

As a young woman, Apfel worked for Women's Wear Daily and for interior designer Elinor Johnson. She also was an assistant to illustrator Robert Goodman. In 1948, she married Carl Apfel. Two years later they launched the textile firm Old World Weavers and ran it until they retired in 1992. During this time, Iris Apfel took part in several design restoration projects, including work at the White House for nine presidents: Truman, Eisenhower, Nixon, Kennedy, Johnson, Carter, Reagan, and Clinton. Apfel still consults and lectures about style and other fashion topics.

DIY Prada Rose Earrings

I love DIY Projects! If you don't want to fork out $540 bucks for a pair of earrings, try this out! 

You’ll need:

• a rhinestone frog closure
• 2 2omm resin rose cabochons
• 2 10mm glue-on earrings posts
• 2 earrings backs
• 2 1.5″ silver head pins
• 2 silver eye pins
• 2 jump rings
• E-6000 glue (the best adhesive to use when gluing metals)
• flat nose pliers
• round nose pliers
• wire cutters
• a small disposable container or spoon
• a toothpick
